Ancient Skills Days
During the summer holidays, Wildly Curious will be running 3 different sessions for small groups of children.
Travel back in time to experience a day exploring some of the skills that our ancestors relied upon for survival.
Ancient Skills Day 1
~ Create arrowhead necklaces
~ Make your own woven wattle and daub mini wall
~ Make string using plants
~ Craft a leather pouch
~ Cook lunch over the fire (lit using a traditional method)
Ancient Skills Day 2
~ Craft a spear with a slate arrowhead
~ Make glue from natural materials
~ Learn how to make string from plants
~ Make your own clay oil lamp
~ Have a go at grinding grain on a quern stone
~ Make bread over the fire (lit using a traditional method)
Ancient Skills Day 3
~ Create your own wooden mallet
~ Learn the craft of Nordic slinging
~ Make charcoal pencils
~ Try out some natural navigation methods
~ Make a natural remedy for bites and stings
~ Cook lunch on the fire (lit using a traditional method)
